Get on Board the Holiday Train

I have told you about the individuality of Alaskans and how they are extremely resourceful and friendly folks. They use what they have…remember?

Well, one thing they surely have is a marvelous railroad that plies some of the most magnificent scenery on earth throughout the summer months. In winter this scenery is even more magnificent.

As early December approaches each year, December 2 this year to be exact, a very special trip is scheduled to leave from Anchorage at 7am headed to Seward. It is the Alaska Railroad Holiday Train. There'll be caroling and storytelling, plus a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus with gifts for the children. All this is in addition to the incredible winter scenery passing outside your large view window.

When you arrive in Seward, you can go to the Holiday Festival, cruise Resurrection Bay, or explore the Alaska SeaLife Center - ask about the free shuttle, activity map, and shopping discounts. Or you could just have a lazy day having a sumptuous seafood lunch at one of the many fine restaurants in Seward and enjoying the view.
For the return trip, the train leaves Seward at 5pm and arrives back in Anchorage at 9pm. Free parking is available in Anchorage. Both breakfast and dinner will be served on the train as part of the experience, and there will be additional food items available for purchase.

The only place on earth where you can enjoy this uniquely Alaskan experience is on the Alaska Railroad Holiday Train between Anchorage and Seward.

Get the family together and get on board. Maybe I will see you there.
